Bad Week for PC's at my place!!
Wedsnesday I came home and my Dell desktop would not power on. So I grabbed my Toshiba laptop to get to this site to see if I could find a solution. I rarely use my laptop, but it was used this summer by my son while I had visitation. Well, when I powered it on it was completey bogged down. Super slow.!! I cannot get to the help and support to do a system restore, I cannot get my virus scan to run and for some reason it has been trying to install windows service pack 3 for the last 2 days. So I took my Dell to the shop, and am waiting for parts. But this laptop is driving me crazy. i am currently working with my work laptop. I was wondering if I go to safe mode is there anything I can do there to help? I don't even remember how to get to safe mode. Any help would be appreciated.

Time to post a HijackThis log in the appropriate forum. It sounds like malware is causing trouble.

I am afraid my laptop will not be able to get the HijackThis software. I haven't tried but bet it will not connect to the internet. And it is still installing that service pack 3.

Download HijackTHis on a clean PC, then burn it to CD or transfer it to a USB Flash drive. Then you can copy it to the problem laptop / PC. While you are at it, you might as well download SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes as well, sine you will probablt need them. See the info in the HijackThis forum for more details.

Ok, I'm back! I downloaded Hijack this, Superspyware and the Malware. Superspyware wouldnt run from my jump drive, Malware ran, it took 21hours and 46 minutes. It said i had the trojan Univoice.inf. I quaranteened it. Windows service pack 3 is now installed too.
I have my Highjackthis report and will look into the hijack forum after this note.
I turned on my laptop today and it booted to windows logon screen very fast, once I typed in my info it gave me a new error
Stop: COOOO21a (Fatal system error) The windows logon process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status 0 the system has been shut down.
Any ideas?
