[RESOLVED] Ethernet Driver Download Problem
I have a Toshiba M55-S1001 laptop running Windows XP home. Service pack 3 is loaded. It has an Intel Celeron 1.6Gb chip 1.1gb memory W.D. 80gb hard drive. I want to connect it to the internet. I have cable. The ethernet driver is not loaded and I do not have a cd of the computers drivers. The ethernet is a Realteck RTL 8139/810x family fast ethernet NIC. I tried going to the Realteck site and downloading a driver and then installling it but I must have downloaded the wrong one or tried to install it wrong or whatever. I was very confused at the download site. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Thanks for the responces!
I downloaded both of them and ran Broni's first. It seemed like it was unzipping and installing. But when I restarted the computer and checked in device manager it said the driver was not installed. So I tried jstanek7's and it seemed to be installing but the same thing happened. When I turned the computer back on and checked in device manager it said driver not installed. I copied the files to a flash drive then installed the flash drive to the laptop and copied the files to the hard drive. Clicked on the zipped file. Clicked on unzip. Files were unzipped successfully. Clicked okay. Then it said now waiting for finding devices and installing drivers. Then is says maintenence complete and I clicked finish. Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to have the cable from the cable modem connected first? Is it broke?

Maybe I should have looked a little further. There is a file called setup text document and anotherone called silent text document. I am printing them out. The silent one says to manually extract into its own directory. Then it says to run: setup -s either from the command prompt or your script. I don't know what script they are referring to orhow to get to a command prompt. I am assuming these are DOS things.

Create a new folder in the root of your drive C: named RealTekC:\RealTek
Download the "relatek-002.zip" file into your "C:\RealTek" folder
When the download is complete, extract the downloaded "Realtek_RTL8139_810x_8169_8110.zip" file back into into your new "C:\RealTek" folder.
Load Device Manager, right-click your RealTek Network Adapter and select Properties.
Click the Driver tab, then the Update Driver... button.
Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click the Next> button.
Select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install." and click the Next> button.
Make sure your RealTek adapter is selected, click the Have Disk... button, then click the Browse... button.
Browse to your "C:\RealTek\LanSetup130(611)\WINXP" folder and click the "Netrtlxp.inf" file.
Click the Open button then the OK button.
When the installation is finished, reboot.
