[XP] auto play of external devices
Dear All,
I have problem regarding auto detection of external devices such as pen drive, DVD, CD, etc...
Whenever I am inserting USB memory stick or DVD or CD than system
is not auto-opening the same, every time I have to open 'My Computer'
and then double click on the DVD-ROM or 'Removable storage' icon to open it.
Desktop's operating system is XP Professional (SP-2)

The easiest way is to download TweakUI and enable it from there.
In TweakUI go to My Computer|Autoplay|Types there you can enable
Autoplay for removable drives and CD/DVD drives.

Be aware that enabling Auto Play/Auto Run for CDs, DVDs and plugin devices is a VERY VERY dangerous thing. If any of them are infected with viruses, trojans and so on, it's possible for your computer to become infected immediately. There are many stories on the web about this issue, the Sony CD rootkit, the digital photo frame sold by Best Buy last year and so forth.
The first thing I do on new PCs is permanently disable Auto Play/Auto Run with TweakUI.
