[XP] Help with connecting PC to LCD TV

Hi.

My video card is BFG nVidia GeForce 8800 GT OC 512 Mb

Im buying an LCD TV from 30" to 34", but Im not sure about the model nor manufacturer yet.

Is it possible to use my TV as the monitor for my PC?
How can I connect it, and what is the best way to do so?

Think you will be happy with the lower res on the TV.

Most folks are not happy with the outcome at all.

S-Video works ok but as Train suggests the resolution is not nearly as good as a computer monitor. It's fine for watching things like Utube vids or streaming media, which usually aren't that great to begin with but if you plan on trying to read any text be prepared for severe eye strain.

I'm not suggesting to not do it... I do to watch streaming sporting events... but it's not a substitute for a real monitor.

S-Video cables should be as short as possible.. around 6-8 feet maximum and get a good quality one... makes a difference. Audio, which needs to be patched separately is not as fussy.. you'll need a mini stereo jack to two rca jacks patch cable (sound card audio output to tv audio input)

Isnt DVI input better quality than S-Video?
Why most folks arent happy, is it like everything is blurry on the screen?

I mostly will use the LCD TV to watch normal tv, play PC games, and surf web.

What about consoles like PS or XBOX, they handle big resolutions pretty good.

DVI might work for you. I have seen that set up and did not care for it at all.
It was a demo setup.
Kind of rough reading the print on the screen.

Provided the LCD tv has a VGA input its not a great problem it will be the same as connecting a normal monitor.I use my 36" samsung in the lounge all the time and its no issue but if you want HiDef then you`ll need to change the graphics card to one that provides a HDMI outlet.

Got myself SONY 32", it kicks !@#.
New standard for me.
Didnt do nothing, hooked it up to PC input, quality is awesome, sound is excellent.
