Shoot, I've been dual boot since March of this year. Love it, but sometimes I feel I don't need both loads. I hardly ever boot to xp now.

I have two other computers running Vista a laptop and my other desk top. So I guess I really didn't need to do this but I had another copy of Vista so i figured what the heck. Its kinda cool to be able to boot to either OS on the same computer.

Hi, just be mindful that whenever you boot to Xp you will erase all restore points in Vista. So I suggest you use ERUNT to create registry backups .

Since were showing off I dual boot Fedora 8, Slackware 9.0, XP, Vista ultimate, Server2003 and the Trial thing of Server2008. I recently aquired a French installation disc for Win2000 pro and I may whack that on as well

Right, I didn't think you or I were showing off. There are many on here that dual boot something, some, many OS's but to actually do it for our first times, was the original idea.

And scarecrowdr, 2 weeks is really not enough time to evaluate Vista, bet it took you longer than that for xp, win98 or whatever you used before. Myself, my computer didn't come with Vista preinstalled. "I" installed it and so far, after many months, don't use XP only occasionally.

I know what ya mean photolady----BUT---I tried XP Pro when it firstcame out n there was so much wrong with it I left it alone for at least one year i think...Then I installed it n decided to learn it n tweak it..Now I Love it because I can get XP to do what I want it to..
As for Vista, i had it with my Laptop, n tweaked it but at moment I Don't like it..Lots of peeps I know have tried it n DELETED it.....I will wait for a few more months before retrying it...Mind you, it was Vista Home Premium n I have been told to try Ultimate instead.....BUT--yet again, both my printers n scanner WON'T work with Vista..I had to buy New for XP...Will NOT buy new again as my Epson 1290s n R220 works fine with xp...Why should we buy new everytime there's a new OS because epson n others won't make drivers for us to use..
So I'll wait n wait n wait! n when ready I'll get Ultimate 64x...By then we will have "MicroRubbish Telstar Interstate OS" where nothing works...LOL

I built this system do do everything from watching tv to playing games and MS Office, minor photo editing ect...... But some of the games I have do not work with Vista so hence the dual boot. So far I use Vista more but when I feel the need for a round of golf or blasting enemies XP seems to work far better.

So I suggest you use ERUNT to create registry backups
Where do I aquire this program? Thanks
