[32] two documents folders and other folder options
Hi everyone. I've just bought a new laptop and am doing my system setup to the way i like it. Basically i am deleting all unwanted programs and processes and putting the documents folders to how i like them.
How can i get rid of the vista bar below the file edit view tool help bar? By that i mean the bar that has organise and views written on it. It's utterly pointless, because those settings can be accessed from the other bar!!
Also, when i click on the start bar, i can click on Richs Documents, which brings me to Richs pictures, videos etc etc. But i can also go onto computer/local disk/users/Rich and it comes to the same folder(or so i thought) It's a different folder, with my music, pictures etc in there.
How can i get rid of one of the folder, so that i can have one? Otherwise i'll have duplicates of everything i put into them!
That's all for now. Apart from that Vista looks and feels great!
Thanks for th help,
Rich.

Thanks for that.
How about the organise and view bar? How can i rid myself of it and how can i apply one view to all files, because it looks as if i have to set every seperate folder to the view i want(very frustrating!)
Also, i always turn all updates and windows security centre/defender etc off, but i am still getting the little red icon in the taskbar, how do i get rid of it?

R-click the toolbar, I think Properties and take the check out and it will disappear.
As for the icon, Open security center.
In the left pane, what you want is
[b]"Change the way Security Center nofifies me"
Select "Don't notify me and don't display icon"

Ive disabled the security centre notice, and the setting that makes a window pop up every time you want to delete anything. People say it's good for security(which it is) But it's my laptop and only i use it. Spybot search and destroy coupled with a firewall and antivirus will be more than sufficient to protect it. I always find that i do absolutely fine without windows updates also.
When i right click on the folder to get rid of the organise / views panel, nothing happens, and i cannot see any option to get rid of it in folder options. Any ideas?
The junction documents folder seems to have been fixed now too. When i goto user/Rich it shows up with Richs Documents, and i have disabled documents on the start menu; so now i only see one documents folder.

They are somewhere in the regs is my guess. I never mess with that stuff.
I update about 3 -5 days after they come out. Seen them keep nasties off of computers just to often to pass them up.
Update my AV programs several times a week.
"Spybot search and destroy "
Gave up on that antique a couple years ago.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and SuperAntiSpyware do a much better job.
Antivirus and stay behind a router with my laptop and desktops.

Wow, i didn't realise spybot search & destroy was an antique now! I need to read up on the latest free software!
I always stay behind a firewalled router, and have antivir(anti virus) spybot search and destroy and adaware. What would you recommend as a replacement to spybot?
I hardly ever get any infections by the way(Or so i think from what spybot and adaware/anti vir tell me) My old desktop always ran perfectly with no hitches. I always make sure there are no add ons or crap on my pc. I never have more than 5-6 desktop icons, i have 3-4 taskbar items, no quickstart items(I keep everything very slimline)

SuperAntiSpyware, eTrust antivirus, Sygate firewall [which is not longer available] and a router for my desktops.
The laptop which has Vista:
AVG 7.5 for antivirus, Windows firewall, Windows Defender and the router.
Been clean for a good number of years.
