[RESOLVED] brother HL-2040 paper outage light?
Have a HL-2040 printer that worked fine till this morning.
The light for paper comes on.
There is no paper jam.
The paper I use is the same as before. ex Costco.
Tried a few sheet of InkJet paper, but the results the same.
Paper starts to feed and stops.
OR
The paper feeds and goes through, but stops just as almost finished.
Have to open up and pull through to clear.
My question
Is this a feeder problem.
Still get crisp clean copies.
Tried a 24 page pdf file, result was 8 pages came through but page 9 stopped almost complete. after restart, got 4 pages. before stopping with paper almost through.
Any input would sure be appreciated.

Try these in the stated order:
1. Make sure the toner cartridge is properly seated.
2. If the single sheet slot has a door make sure the door is fully closed. Check for a jam or trash in the single sheet slot.
3. If you have a spray can of air try blowing out the interior of the printer. I wouldn't buy a can for just this as it probably wont help.
4. Unplug the printer. Using a spray can of electronics cleaner clean the rollers. Also spray around all buttons and make sure they are not sticking,
5. If its under warranty have it replaced (no one repairs $100 printers).
6. If it still doesn't work give it a decent burial

Train.- Did that and rebooted a few times. no difference.
As I have multiple cartridges of toner, its a hard sell to change.
Did have a spare cartridge as changed that. and it seems to work.
So would guess that the cartridge has wear.
The old cartridge has the older drum and so not a very clean print.
But it does indicate that the problem lies with cartridge.
Thanks for the heads up. Appreciate the help.
