    I see no infection here.
Try same IE steps, as with the other computer.

Thanks Broni, done the IE with the second computer, removing all the add-ons etc., and given it a test on a couple of sites. Seems OK. Like the other computer will wait until Monday to give it a real going over.

Whilst doing all this hijack work, our little Fujistu a P7230 has taken into its brain to stop working. On bootup I just get the Dos type script with the Advanced boot options screen, safe mode etc, but nothing happens when I press enter - just looks at me. Any suggestions please.

    Red face

Broni, this a completely different computer the to hijack ones, we have been using it these last couple of days, but for some reason around lunch today it would not start. The DOS type page showing Advanced Boot Options is still on the screen even though I have chosen Safe Mode and Enter = Choose.

Sorry for this mix-up, my fault.

In your best interest, I'd start a new topic about P7230 computer, so we won't get mixed up. Simply Windows section should do.

Both the computers seem to be working OK at present, but Monday will be the big day when we will be using them.

The little notebook which just showed the Dos screen started OK this morning except that the keyboard is not working properly.

Thanks for all your help, much appreciated.

    Thumbs up

    Hi Broni

Well we have had a good day with the computers, the Fujitsu has behaved itself, and the Asus did up to a point - we did not get the same problem as we had before but we had a "greying-out" of a program we use a lot - www.quotetraker.com - on which we can get a regular update on the markets. We have never had that problem before with this program, it was OK on my computer, the Fujitsu, but not on the Asus. We do not know why this happened.

The baby Fujitsu has gone to hospital, looks like it needs a transplant for a new keyboard. It will be second one.

We will give the Asus another day to see if this greying problem happens again, but as far as we are concerned the help you gave us over the weekend is much appreciated. I hope we didn't spoil your beauty sleep!!

We will give you an update tomorrow.

    Thanks again,
    Malcolm

I'm glad to see some good news, but I'm not sure what you mean by "greying-out".

BTW, I don't sleep...too many people need some kind of computer help.......just kidding....LOL

Broni - the "graying out" problem ( that is when the screen goes milky like when it is not responding) hasn't happened so far this morning. So all seems good now.

I tried to download some updates this morning on i-Tunes, including safari, there were three items all up, but the download failed, it seems to get half way through and said that a problem had arisen and would not finish. I don't know why.

    Very good

As for new problem, it's the best to start a new topic...
