    Question which laptop do you prefer?

    Hi to all!

    just wanna ask if which of the laptops would you prefer, i'm planning to buy one but have a tight budget so i think i'll settle with these for now...
    Compaq Presario C793TU;
    Acer Aspire 4715-4A1G12Mi;
    Toshiba Satellite L40-A503;
    Acer Aspire 2920Z-3AO508Mi;
    Compaq Presario C794TU...

    all are of almost same specs and price, but going with quality which of those do you think is better? for basic purposes not that more on business or advanced user...

    You are aware that notebook has FreeDOS listed as the OS?
    Additonal note,
    No WindowsXP drivers are listed for that model either.

    For WindowsXP,
    You should be looking at the HP/Compaq business models.

    If intending to run Vista,
    Would suggest at least 2 GB of memory.

    The Toshiba Satellite L40-A503 does not exist either.

    I use a Toshiba laptop and you are stuck with Vista now. The 2 GB of ram is needed with Vista!

    Since I have 4 desktops [3 with XP and 98SE on one] to do the hard work on, I use the lapper for removing graphics from memory chips, burning data cd/dvds and posting on the internet when traveling.

    I gave Vista a 6 week trial and during that time I got use to it. Fact is I got Ultimate and did a clean install then installed SP1 to the laptop. Runs right good, but must admit, I never installed the silly touchpad drivers and use a M$ tailed optical mouse.

    Vista with SP1 is OK in my book. SP 1 made a difference. But get rid of McAfee av what ever you do.

    Now for a work rig, I'd suggest XP.

    If you don't like vista research the laptops to see if any have all the xp drivers available.

    Genuine Windows Vista Starter Edition. Forgot that existed.

    XP would be better than that.
