I haven't tried Malwarebytes yet..will get it and give it a go.
Does anyone use SpywareGuard? It's from Javacool...where we get SpywareBlaster. I have it and it runs in background but every time that I click on updates, I notice that the def's haven't been updated since 2004...so I'm wondering how effective it still is.?

I have given up on a lot of the older programs as time has passed and I do not think they apply anymore. But, remember, that is just my thinking.

I haven't used it but other users confirm that its no longer being updated. Its supposed to use heuristics as well as a signature file so it may still be of some value. However, most user comments are negative.

I wouldn't use it. As Jerry noted, it's very outdated. If you want something that has a fairly low overhead but keeps an eye on things, consider free WinPatrol. http://www.winpatrol.com/ I liked WP enough I've bought several licenses of the Pro version...

well. I think that I will give SpywareGuard the boot....I thought it was odd that SpywareBlaster was keeping it's definitions & versions updated but had done nothing with SpywareGuard.

I think it became a time issue. AFAIK, javacool is just one guy...
