I know it's clean. ADSL connection is 1.5Mbps, it's running extremely slow (3kbp/s if I'm lucky). The hosts file is clean, no entries there, it's my sister's PC, she was running with old McAfee AV patterns for a few months because it was failing to update, so I think a virus has damaged the system during that time of exposure. I can't get into Safe Mode, i get the out of frequency message, i would like to run an AV scan in there to be sure. If all else fails, will rebuild.
