Resolved [RESOLVED] sky.com portal not working

    XP Pro SP2.

A friend dropped in a laptop to me which cannot access the Sky Portal (which is used for emails).

Symptoms: Got to https://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/mysky and log in. The next page is blank, no errors and status of 'Done' at the foot of the page.

I discovered that the system date was 2000 (on board battery must've died), and have rectified this, but still the same symptoms.

I can use her account on my PC with no issues. I have tried IE and FF on her laptop - no change. I have setup Outlook to access her mail - the test account settings work, but getting email doesn't (yes, I changed her account to use POP).

Will do some scans for virii/malware tomorrow, but wondering if anyone else has experienced similar or has some good suggestions.

    Cheers,

    TEk

All working now. I restored to a point in December 2007 - earliest one I could find (may be related to the system date being in 2000). Anyway, that loaded up fine and brought her browser version back to IE6. Updates naturally picked up IE7, so I went with it. This seems to have done the trick, so I guess it was a combination of system date and IE7 hosing the system.

What I can't quite work out is why FF and Outlook was also affected. Not that it matters now.

So if you've come here with the same problem, this will hopefully provide some clues for a fix!

    Cheers,

    TEk

PS - I picked up no virii or malware in my tests.
