    .AVI are crashing my system

    Good Day,

Recently when I have a .avi in my folder & I want to put my folder in Thumbnail view it crashes. Same goes for when I try to open my .avi.
As soon as I have a .avi in my folder I can't touch it. Not even right clik on it.
It's a Microsoft error asking if I want to report it or not. When I answer the folder closes.

On the same note... I can't SAVE AS a picture from the internet anymore.
It closes my folder when it asks me where I want to save it.

Any help would be much appreciate as I'm about to break! lol

    Regards,
    Dan

Have you tried a system restore from a point just before the problem started?

    How is your computer security?
Where are those .avi files from?

I have Comodi Firewall Pro. Tried them with the Firewall off & I got the same results. The Avi's are from anywhere. My camera, internet or really anything. Same goes from doing "Save as" on a picture from the web. It shuts the pages down.

I'm curious, if same thing will happen in Safe Mode?
By "crashing", you mean Windows Explorer crashes, right?

Lack of codecs can cause that too.
But Broni has brought up a good point.

    K-lite codec
    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...codec_pack.htm
    Standard should do.

    Good Morning,

I uninstall a bunch of programs last night & I think the problem was with a program that came with my Canon Digital Camera.

    Thanks for all your help.
    Regards,
    Dan
