Resolved [RESOLVED] Mysterious long boot time

On a newly formatted Windows XP computer, the boot time takes too long. The thing is, the 20 second pause happens just after it searches for a boot record from the CD drive, until the Windows XP loading screen. From the loading screen to the desktop takes about 7 seconds, which leads me to believe that it is not a Windows problem.
The computer has 1.2GB of ram and a new HD. Its a P4 2.4.

    Any ideas?

How about moving the CD-ROM Drive behind the HDD in boot order within the BIOS? You may have a non-OS CD in the CD-ROM drive that it's attempting to read?

Actually, I just managed to solve it. I was wrong, it was apparently a Windows issue. I did a repair installation, and that solved it.
Thanks for your reply in any case.
