    [XP] ewf file extention problem

i have a gateway laptop running windows xp. and using internet explorer.

the problem i am having is evry time i try to dowload any type of bin file the laptop does not reconize the file as the right type or (extention).
like when i click on the attached file the download box opens and reads:

    Name c7000_NORW_v165_20080703[1].1.321C02.efw
Type unknown file Type, 128 MB

And it should read as :

    Name c7000_NORW_v165_20080703.zip
Type WinRAR ZIP archive, 128 MB

so if i save it to the desktop it save it as c7000_NORW_v165_20080703[1].1.321C02.efw
does any one no how to fix this problem

Have you tried assigning that file extension to the WinRAR program?

Right-click on the file, and then click Open With.
In the Open With menu, select the program that you want to use to open the file.
Select the Always use this program to open these files box.

marcel.crash--Why do you think this is a .bin file? It is identified by Windows as an .ewf file. Right Click on the file, then Properties. What file type is shown?
(Not many programs open .ewf files.EpicViewer from Trollzoft is one

If it really is .bin, maybe this will help.
