TABLE in MS Word - Hitting RETURN won't expand cell height
M$ Word problem #2:
Another seemingly simple problem, but again I don't see the cause or fix.
In a lot of MS Word documents with which I work, I can go to the end of the last line in a table cell and hit Return, and Word will expand the cell height so that there is again an empty line at the bottom of the cell.
In this document, Word does not expand the cell height when I hit Return, and I can't seem to find a setting which might control this.
Again, I am at work, using a Dell Optiplex GX-620, running WinXP Pro SP2. I am using MS Word 2002 SP3.
Any suggestions ? Thank you in advance . . .

Click Format in the Toolbar and choose Cells, then Alignment; open the drop-down window next to Vertical and select Justify and OK. All cells in that row will be the size of the largest cell when done.
If you don't see Alignment right away, click on another tab until the tabs scroll left or right.
Edit: I just realized you're mentioning Word, not Excel - is that what you meant?

Igbpop,
Thank you for your reply. However, I do not find a "Cells" choice on the menu (let alone "Alignment) -- neither under MS Word's main Format menu, nor under the Table menu. What version of Word are you looking at?
Thanks,

Sorry...in Word, select Table in the toolbar and Insert>Table; check Autofit to Contents and OK.
That's the only way I know of in Word, but I'm no expert at it either.

Sorry, I thought I had mentioned that I had already tried that. Anyway, it did not work, so I have no idea what's going on. But thanks again for replying.
