I seem to have some form of this virus too. AVG removes it but causes the no-boot BSOD. The name on mine is basepkk32.dll and is in the system32 folder. Not exactly sure what symptoms it causes since most computers that are infect have more then just one virus or trojan. But I get popups whenever i open a browser ranging from 'anti-malware' to porn. One computer with this infection couldn't actually browse correctly like a browser hijack. If you did a google search any link you clicked would come back with one of ten or so webpages that were not what you clicked. Windows update does not work either. And I can't turn on system restore on one computer.
All that to say, I'm not sure what this trojan is but superantispyware says it's a trojan.dropper/base which norton says should be easy to remove but doesn't detect it. And it's difficult to find information on a trojan that changes names. :P
Anyone found a good way to remove this without noobing the computer?
Tools I have tried and had some success, but unsure of how much include:
Norton, a-squared free, avg (free and trial), superantispyware, spybot, adaware, smitfraudfix, ccleaner, avast free, winsockxpfix, hijackthis(another guy who knows more how to use this tool then I ran it for me) and a few others I'm not thinking of right now.
