Are you sure that is not one of those multi forwarded emails?

Double Click the name in the address bar. 5 times is not unheard of.

    Hello kspeel

AVG antivirus does that, or at least the older version does. I have had the problem for a long time.

It is the AVG email scanner to blame. The way to fix it is to turn off the email scanning function in AVG and then AVG is not happy with you

Your firewall will probably be checking your email anyway

Don`t know if any other antivirus do it too.

kspeel & Elaine, Thought I'd post this. You actually don't have to turn off the e-mail scanner to eliminate that paper clip showing up on all e-mails.

Open AVG, hilite the E-mail scanner, click the Properties button, click the Configure button, under E-mail scanning leave Check in-coming mail and Check out-going mail Checkmarked BUT UNCHECK both "Certify Mail" boxes.

This will eliminate the paper clips and the e-mails in-coming and out-going will be scanned.

The above is for the 7.5 version and the new 8.0 version may be the same but I'm not sure.

I never installed email scanner on any of my AVGs. It's simply an overkill, and one more feature, which may bring problems.
AVG resident shield will warn you about possible infection, whether email scanner is installed, or not.
