Freind of my computer now has virtual cockroachs crawling on his screen. Any idea what has taking over his computer

Are you sure its not a screensaver that has been set on his PC, I have heard of similar things happening due to people accidentally opening stuff they shouldnt really be opening o.-

While he's at it, full AV/Spyware scan please!
