China and Tibet

Hi, how lucky we are to live in free societies, I subscribe to the English language "China Daily" now they have a response to "Tibet" try to post a contra view to the Chinese official line and you will be removed. We need to remind these people that the world cannot ignore the suffering of others, it is vital that the US leads the way as the worlds great democracy... we allow our people to protest we do not try to kill them... message to China.

Unfortunatley, there is much ignorance to suffering around the world. As democracies we only tend to get involved if a) there is a financial interest in natural resources and/or b) our miliary might is percieved to be so strong in comparison that its a win/win situation.

Please don't take this as some sort of support for China and it's ilk (ie Zimbabwe) or some anti US, UK , Nato or other 1st world democracy, just that it is my opinion on why and when we do do something for the good of the peoples concerned.

I'm personally going to ignore/boycott the Olympics.

I don`t think China should have given the Games in the first place.

I believe Gordon Brown is not going to the Opening Ceremony, but George Bush is despite being urged not to.

Just heard last night that the Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon is not going due to prior engagements?
