You'd have to buy it after 30 days if you like it. I'd suggest staying with what you know works. Also I like to wait a few months before I try a new version of an a/v program as my first line of defense to allow any bugs to be worked out.
In other words if it isn't broken don't fix it

I have the paid version of AVG 7.5 and decided to upgrade to AVG 8 ... it lasted an hour on my computer, IT IS HORRIBLE !!!! .... it slowed the computer down, and everything that spybot immunized me against, came up as a warning in AVG 8 which drove me crazy .... from what I have read they well be getting rid of AVG 7.5 sometime within the year ... my license for the paid version doesn't expire until sometime next year, but knowing that I will soon be forced to go with their new version, I decided to scrap AVG all together ... I don't want an antivirus program that wants to take control ... I will take care of cookies and spyware with other programs ... and I don't want something that I have immunized the computer against coming up as a warning in an antivirus program ... I almost fell off my chair when I saw over 12,000 warnings that I couldn't get rid of ... and of course they don't tell you anything, you have to go searching and reading to find out why you can't get rid of something, and then of course you read, its a conflict with spybot and other antispyware programs .... AVG is no longer on my computer .... decided to go with CA Antivirus ... there was an offer for microsoft customers, 3 licenses for $19.99 ... if I were you, I would stay away from the new version of AVG, thats just my opinion ... the computer I installed AVG 8 on has tons of ram and running like a dream before installing it and after installing AVG 8 it was nightmare city !

Your 7.5 version is just antivirus, and it's free (this is what I use). The pop-up is about Security Suite 8.0, which is an antivirus + whole other bunch, which I don't need, and it's NOT free.
