My first thought about combating this problem is to disable the auto run feature so that upon insertion of the new software CD it will [B]not[B] automatically install the new software. To accomplish that, you will have to open My Computer and manually run the CD in the correct CD drive but doing this first will allow you to virus check the CD with your updated virus software.
Just my suggestion and it is what I do before I run any new CD of any kind.
