    chase emails

beware of a email that looks like from chase manhattan bank,

i got one today that stated someone had tried several invalid attempts at logging into my account, i was to go to their webpage to log in,(i was provided a link) at that web page i was told to log in and provide updated information which i proceeded to do until it ask me for my social secutity number. i stopped and logged onto chase webpage from my shortcut those webpages were identical except for one thing, on the link provided there was not a contact us link, so i called chase and they verified this email was bogus so i had to change my used id and password and hope because i did not give then my social security number that i am safe

The best defense against phishing/vishing is a little common sense. If one of your financial institution contacts you, (by phone or email), and is requesting personal data, call them using the phone number provided on the back of your card or official statement. If you can't get confirmation that the request is actually legitimate, don't follow up on it.
