[RESOLVED] Vista/XP dual boot
Hello folks, I have a question. I just installed Vista Home Pre on my desktop, my desk top has two WD raptors. I use the second drive just for storage. I want to set my operating drive (C) up to dual boot so I can use my copy of XP Pro also as I miss my printer/like my printer and don't want to buy a new one. No the printer is not supported with Vista (Cannon F-30). The drive is not partitioned at this point. Is it possible to partition the drive at this point with the XP cd and create a dual boot with out messing Vista up. Thanks

You should be able to repartition the drive from Vista Disk management:

Then after you install WinXP you will lose the ability to boot into Vista. So after XP is installed you can either boot up with the Vista DVD and let Setup run, then choose "Startup repair" when you get the menu choices. Or alternatively you can download this excellent utility, which can run in either XP or Vista, which should get the dual-boot options back again:

Thanks, after a fair amount of tinkering due to my own ignorance. I have both OS's up and running. I down loaded Vista boot pro, what a great program. Again thanks!!!
