[XP] can't seem to get my e-mail

I have just purchased a Dell computer, and have fouled up bad. I can't seem to get my e-mail to send or receive. I'm using Outlook Express, and am using
sbcglobal.net as my isp. I know my password but can't figure out what to put in all the boxes for in mail and out mail. I know it is a pop3, and yahoo enters into it also, but can anyone help me configure it correctly? Please make it step by step, as I am 82 years old, and trying to learn this stuff. Thanks in advance for your support. Hope this is on the correct thread.
    Dick.

These are the exact settings for the windows since the merger with AT&T:
    Incoming mail server: pop.att.yahoo.com
    Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.att.yahoo.com
    User name: (your E-mail)@sbcglobal.net
    Password: (your password)
"Require logon using secure password authentication (SPA)" Do NOT check.
    Next tab:
"My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". DO put a check in the box. Also, tick "Use same settings as my incoming mail server."
    Advanced tab:
Server port numbers: (These have to be exact, DO NOT use default as they will not work!) Enter in windows -
    Incoming server (POP3): 995
"This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" DO check the box.
    Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
"Use the following type of encrypted connection": SSL

Let me know if this gets your mail working. The directions linked in the post above are for the service before the merger with AT&T and many things have changed.
