Update my router?
Update my router?
I have a D-Link DI-624 router.
I'm using Verizon FIOS. Can I increase my speed by buying a new wireless router and enough that I would notice a difference?
Someone suggested a DIR-655.

If http://www22.verizon.com/content/con...and+prices.htm is anything to go by, a new router would make no difference at all to your Internet connection. According to that the top-end FIOS plan is 15 Mbps each way, and your router already does 108 Mbps total over the wireless link with matching cards in the PCs (or 54 Mbps total otherwise). There are a lot of overheads in a wireless connection, but I reckon the Internet connection is still your limiting factor.
Buying a draft N router would potentially get you faster wireless transfers between your computers, but you'd also have to replace the wireless NIC in each of them with matching D-Link draft N stuff at the same time. Upgrading the router alone would have no impact.
Safe computing is a habit, not a toolkit.

Short and sweet and to the point. Thanks, I'll leave well enough alone.
