I was considering an APC UPS350AV for my home server. Documentation is sparce from apc.
There is software that will power down a pc from battery mode but while still running on battery if the power were to return will the ups software power the pc back on

Anne--I am not 100% sure what your question is. APC is a reliable company.
This page will show you what they offer in the VA range you mention. (I assume you have calculated your Volt-Amp needs. 350VA seems a little low.)

Note that several model numbers are listed. (UPS350AV is not a model number.)
I am fairly sure they all are able to automatically smooth out interruption of power and not shut things down if the interruption were a matter of a few seconds.
APS UPS units usually come with software to manage an orderly power shutdown if needed after a longer power interruption. But I doubt a UPS will start everything up again after a partial shutdown. I would think not since that would be no different than having started a normal shutdown. That is really a matter how the OS operates not the UPS.

Your electric power is of course different than ours, so I do not know exactly what APC offers for Australia.

See if there is a setting in your BIOS/CMOS to restart after a power loss. For example:



("AC Loss Auto Restart" should be [On])

The APC software has the option to either shut down the server and leave it off, or to restart it (BIOS permitting, as the Doc says).
