Virus or Other ??
We have a problem that we need some help with please. When we click on IE to go to our home page, it will flash the home page and then go right back to the desk top. We have to click it several times to get the home page to stay open. What causes this?
We use IE, Win XP, have FIOS, use the Antivir and Norton firewall.
Thanks for any info.

virus wouldn't be the first thing I'd think of. Have you tried resetting the home page in IEX? Are you using any antispy or a/v progs that block changes to the home page?.. if so try disabling that feature and see what happens.

Try this:- Click Start | Control Panel
- If your Control Panel is in "Category View", select Network and Internet Connections, then Internet Options
If your Control Panel is in "Classic View", select Internet Options
- In the Internet Properties window, click the Advanced tab, the Reset... button, then Apply | OK
(Note that you'll need to manually reset your home page).
Now try loading IE again.

Thanks for the info. We tried re-setting the home page and it worked for a short time and then was right back to the same thing. As far as we know we don't have anything that blocks changes to home page.
I will try the suggestion from Spyware Dr when I get home this afternoon.

We tried all suggestions and it still does the same thing. We changed the homepage and the next time we logged on it was back to the original one. We did click apply after we changed it. Any other ideas?

IE closes completely?
If you don't have Firefox, download, and install it. See, if it works OK.
Any other problems with your computer, or it's just IE?

If that's the case then it's probably not what I'd suggested above. What is the home page? Does it have any Java applets running on it? I have seen corrupt Java installs shut browsers down like that.

Try starting the computer in Safe Mode and see if the shutdown problem still exists.
