    COM3, COM4

On my wifes PC I'm getting COM3 and COM4 errors

    The error for both is,
This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29)

I've never had com port errors before so I'm lost.

Any ideas on how to fix these?

    Thanks
    Rod

    Hi RodneyM
What hardware do you have attached to the com ports.Has it been working in the past and what if anything have you changed?

It looks like whatever you have attached to those ports is not enabled in BIOS

Is there a easy way to find what is attached to those ports?

It would be unusual for a system to actually have physical com3 and com4 ports. Are there multiple serial ports on the back of the system case? A common cause for symptoms like this is failed Winmodem drive installs. Is there a dial-up modem card in the computer?

If you let us know the system specifications and if there are any devices in Device Manager with a ! beside them, we can offer further suggestions.

Although it is not-bang up-to-date, a helpful system analysis program is Everest Home.

    No dial-up modem card.

    And I'll run Everest
