[RESOLVED] [Home] User account not showing up
Need some help here with something I have never seen before.
It's my daughters PC!
She is not showing up in user accounts or control userpasswords2!
I do under my account, if I try to create a account with her username. I get account already in use. But it's not there, there is a Documents and Settings folder with her username on it. But thats all I see!
Any ideas?
And I am doing a online scan (Bitdefender) now.
Thanks
Rod

Her account was probably deleted AND the option to save the files was selected. Just create a new one and call it Sally2 or whatever....

I'd thought of that. But she can still login with the account that's not there!

Now I'm not sure what the question is
If it ain't broke........
When you look in Control Panel->User Accts, who do you see?
When you boot the machine up - who do you see there?
In Docs n Settings - who do you see there?
One little tid bit - you can change a user name in control panel but it doesn't change the name in docs n settings.

How to Delete a User Profile
To delete a user profile, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
3. Under User Profiles, click Settings.
4. Click the user profile that you want to delete, and then click Delete.
SUMMARY
This step-by-step article describes how to delete a user profile from a local computer. If you use the method presented in this article, you delete the SystemDrive\Documents and Settings\Username folder that contains the user's My Documents folder, desktop settings, Start menu, Favorites, and cookies. This method also deletes the profile from the ProfileList key in the registry.
** This procedure does not remove a user's ability to log back on to the same computer. When a user logs back in, Windows creates a new SystemDrive\Documents and Settings\Username folder, but does not re-create the user's previous documents, desktop settings, Start menu, Favorites, and cookies.

I re-added her to,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Winlogon \ SpecialAccounts \ UserList
And this is fixed!

And it's happened again!
I'm just going to backup what she needs/wants, then format and reinstall.
Then I'll do a scan of her backup's to make sure they're clean!
