Re:Importing from camcorder
Hello All, for some reason every program i have, cannot directly import from my new Sanyo camcorder, HD700.
I received this from Sanyo See Red) The issue you describe is likely to be PC related and we recommend that you consult your computer supplier/helpline regarding setting the PC management menu to accept a new device.
Questions:What is this?
What do i have to do to check the settings??
Or, what settings do i change???
Windows XP. Packard Bell
Thanks, GEP

How are you connecting it? Did you not receive any software on a CD? (Which colour did you go for?)

You can get it in silver/red/brown and champagne mix.
Are you using the onboard memory (If it has any?) or memory card(s)? Do you have a card reader?
Does the camera show in My Computer when plugged in?

Re:Importing
Hello Liam858, yes it has a card reader, and can read from it.
Yes, it does show as a drive, but, cannot import to a program like photoplus6, Cyberlink6, etc.
Can i ask you where is PC management menu ?????? On my XP computer.
I have a 2 GB SD memory card, external.

I would assume PC Management means Computer Management, and also assume it is telling you to make sure the device is listed in Disk Management|Storage as a drive.
I don't see why you would need to import using a program, if it shows in My Computer and you click it can you view files? As in recordings, some video files?

All i know Liam is that it is called, PC management menu or on my XP, something else.Cannot find Computer Management, and also assume it is telling you to make sure the device is listed in Disk Management|Storage as a drive.
Looked in Control Panel etc, no sign of what i am after.
It has something to do with Twain, and or changing the settings for it to recognise my sanyo, so as to Directly Import from Camera/camcorder, into the Program whatever it may be. Like it recognises my Printer as Twain, my old camera as twain, but not my new sanyo.
Sanyo technical have said that i need to go to my PC Management Menu, whatever or wherever that maybe.
Thanks, GEP

It is in Control Panel, under Administrative Tools.
I just don't get what they want you to do there, did they tell you to format the card prior to use from disk management? Because that's about all you'll be able to do when you get there.

Re:Importing
Hello Liam858 and all, here is the full email from Sanyo, hope this gives you a lead to what i want. See highlighted part, especially the red part.
With operating systems more recent than Windows 98, there are no twain
drivers required. The software is already included on the PC as part of
the Windows package when purchased.
The issue you describe is likely to be PC related and we recommend that you consult your computer supplier/helpline regarding setting the PC management menu to accept a new device.
Meanwhile we trust your SANYO digital camera provides enjoyable use.
Thanks, GEP

Well, if it appears in My Computer, then the files are there, just click on the drive/camera that shows up, and see where it takes you, if it shows a folder or two have a peek around and see if there are any videos.
You shouldn't need any apps to import recordings, just to mess around and edit the clips recorded.
