    Verizon

Anybody here have verizon wireless cell phone service...I have a question...

My system has three clssifications for incoming calls....Caller ID, No Caller ID and Restricted. What exactly is the difference between No Caller ID and Restricted? Neither displays any information on who is calling.....

It can be anything from lack of switching gear to that being blocked.

Restricted caller ID is typically the ability to block/allow specific incoming calls based on the presence of caller ID.

I use CDMA, but capabilities vary with any provider's tower equipment and the services they wish to offer. Most handsets are designed to handle all features of a given specification, if they are implemented by your provider.

Some features can be turned on if you have access to the engineering menus in the handset. (Requires a totally unlocked handset.)

The reason I am curious about the difference between the two...

In the past when I was out on a jobsite and my office would call me....I got full Caller ID info. Name and number....

More recently...my office has moved to another location and all the calls come through as restricted. I am just wondering if the office moved into a no Caller ID area or if my boss is trying to hide from us.

If the new office is in a no Caller ID area...then I would expect that designation on my cell. But this "restricted" thing is showing up now. So the question is....is my boss hiding, or is the new area responsible? This is a landline to cell call....
