    Who's running 64 bit

    Hi all

Just bought a new printer, so I'm now ready to go 64 bit. Had the day off today and I was about to reinstall when I thought why am I bothering.

I may still do it but I can't decide if it's worth the bother, so I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts to help me decide. Good or bad I'm interested, thanks in advance.

I've been running 64-bit all along, I never bothered with the 32-bit version even when I was beta testing. You get better security, as there is PatchGuard on the 64-bit version, and you get the ability to use more RAM (and Vista runs very sweetly with 4GB ).

Also, 64-bit is the way of the future, all new machines are 64-bit capable, and rumour has it that Vista is the last version of Windows that will be released in a 32-bit flavour.

Thanks supersparks, but have you come across any software that you couldn't use. I know you use Nod32 but have you any experience with AVG's free version in 64 bit.

The only thing that I personally found that wouldn't work was TrueImage 9, but version 10 is fine. I have no experience of AVG, I've never used it.

The best thing to do is check here:

Thanks again, think I'll take an image first and give it a go.

The deed is done, so far so good.

Strangely when I originally installed 32bit my WEI for graphics was very low until I installed the video drivers. With 64 bit my WEI started at 5.9 with the MS drivers and dropped to 5.2 with the Nvidia ones.

Did you have any problem activating? Bistro is asking in another thread.

Haven't tried yet, thought I'd give it a little while.

    Two reasons:
Want to make sure I like it.
Thought best to wait a while between changes, less chance of having to make phone call.

I had to revert to 32 bit Vista because I couldn't get biometric software in a 64 bit version. It seems strange that many drivers are still not available 10 months after Vista was released last November. I use SmartCards, fingerprint readers and RFID proximity devices to control access to each machine on my home network.

I don't need all that....when my teenage daughter is on the system chatting with her friends, a grizzly bear couldn't get past her to gain access.
