Problem with outlook express and attachments.

When I try to open an attachment with outlook express it says that there is no application associated with this file type.

If I save the attachment and then open it, it works fine.

Is there an easy fix for this? I'm sure I'm not the first person to run into this.

Does the attachment have a file extension as part of the filename (within the message)?

The reason I ask is because a while back a new girl at the office was renaming scan-to-PDF files without using a .PDF file extension and then emailing them out as attachments. Complaints started pouring in from recipients that couldn't open them. (Doh!).

I don`t know which attachments are involved, but here is an example of how to fix the problem with .pps files

btcomm--Is this happening with all attachments or just a select few? If a few, what file types are involved?
