Resolved [RESOLVED] adding to allowed list?

Please bear with me if I don't use the correct terms because I am not sure how to phrase this.

I am trying to find this place on my computer where one can add items so that my Norton won't try to stop them from working. I tried to find a place in Norton where one can add items that are allowed, but no matter where I look I can't find that in Norton. Now I was told that since I don't have Norton Internet security, that I only have Norton anti-virus that there is no such place on the version of Norton I have where I can add allowed items. But I know there is someplace on my computer where I can add items to be allowed since I saw it and have added items to that list. For example, I got Weatherbug and it wouldn't work because Norton wouldn't let it. I added it to this list I am talking about and then it worked. I've since deleted Weatherbug since it caused too many problems so I'm not trying to find the list because I want Weatherbug back. I'm just trying to find the list because it would be handy to know where it is and because it's driving me crazy because I know it's there somewhere and can't find it again. I tried using Search and Help and I guess I don't know how to enter the correct words to use Search and Help to find this list because Search and Help told me it couldn't find the list. I put it in under allowed list thinking that would make sense and don't know how else to phrase it.

Does anyone here know what I am talking about and how to find this list? I know it exists since the last time I opened it I saw a number of programs listed there. One of the programs is an ezine publisher.

If I understand you correctly, it is your firewall you want to check and find the list of programs which are allowed/disallowed.

If you only have Norton antivirus you must have a different firewall

    adding to allowed list

Perhaps it is my firewall I want check. I know I don't see Firewall listed in Norton. After looking I see that I have Firewall listed in Microsoft Security center. It mentioned something about an Exception list. I assume this is the list I am looking for, but I couldn't figure out how to access it. I even clicked on Firewall, but saw no place where it said Configure. So I did a search for files and folders trying Exception List and Firewall Exceptions and Search said it had no results to show. I assume this is something obvious and I'll feel stupid when I find out the answer. But...

Can you tell me how to access the Exception List? Like I said I knew there was some kind of list like that and have even accessed it so now I feel really stupid because I can't remember how to access it.

Dr Seven--If you have not installed any third party firewall, you probably have Windows Firewall on by default. First check that it is on. Control Panel|Windows Firewall. If not on, then check ON. The click the Exceptions tab. You can add programs to the list. Maybe that is what you are looking for. When you close, click the OK buttons.
