Free AVG Error when Reinstalling

I have had to restore my computer from a previous point and now my free AVG will not work. I tried to open the program and I get an arror message: "Failed to intialize AVG kernal interface". So I treid to re-install to make any repairs and I got another error message:
Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file avgemc.exe: starting service....
Service AVGEMS failed to progress during startup at checpoint 0 (wait hint 10000 ms) in 90277 ms.


I really like AVG and want to continue using it. What can I do? Thanks

Try two things. First go into control panel>admin tools>services and stop any services related to AVG (Service AVGEMS) then try to uninstall/reinstall again.


If no go do an uninstall/reinstall in safe mode (tap the F8 key while booting to get there)
