You caught me at a lucid moment....before I get all liquored up....LOL 
Actually....those points about party planning are true. I had used them after throwing a couple dud parties back in the day. But they go straight to human behavior and nature and apply elsewhere too...like an internet forum. 
The part about having more women than men does two things. It cuts down on the whole ego alpha male..."That guy is getting more female attention than me, so I am going to fight with him"...thing. And....women are always more friendly and open to newcomers than guys (with exceptions of course)...
In every busy forum I have ever seen....it is the ladies that carry the day and make off-topic work. They are the ones keeping it light while the guys are trying to take off each other's head over arguing artificial turf versus natural grass or some similar minor point. Women keep off-topic from becoming a major testosterone spill many times....LOL 
Personally...I like the lounge forum being a mix of computer and non-computer. It's a chance for the geeks to bump into non-geeks.

Yep ... if it weren't for the lounge I wouldn't have anywhere to go here 
well .. maybe a couple other areas but I wouldn't be of much help
