Resolved [RESOLVED] Weather Bug Is being blocked

When I try to check the long range forecast on Weather Bug it keeps telling me that I need a active internet connection. I have one. I checked their FAQ and it told me that I was probably being blocked by my Norton Anti-virus.

I tried to find the page in Norton where you can add exclusions to scans. I have whole list of pages that are exempt from scanning. I tried to add Weather Bug, but it told me it was the wrong file name. Then to make matters worse when I tried to find the page on Norton again to try to add Weather Bug again a different way I can't find that page in Norton.

Has anybody else here had this problem where Norton is blocking Weather Bug? If so, what did you do about it? And can you walk me through how I open up my Norton page where one can add exclusions?

I know this is probably stupid on my part that I can't make something so simple work, but I would really apprciate it if you could help.

I have had multiple bad experiences with WeatherBug. I know older versions used to cause popups. I also had some bad experiences with the uninstaller.

Have you tried the program WeatherPulse?

Dr Seven--I suspect it is not Norton AntiVirus which is blocking access to Weatherbug. It could be Norton (or any other) Firewall. (It could also be a HOSTS file.)
Weatherbug may not be as bad as it once was

but I agree with Professor U that there are similar programs that cause no problems, adware, popups, etc.
I use www.weather.com. You can customize it for your own city.
You should be able to remove Weatherbug from Add/Remove, although I have heard bits and pieces are left behind.

    WeatherBug is being blocked

    Thanks, Jim!

I got the Weather Channel link and desktop icon like you suggested and it works much better than weatherbug.
