[RESOLVED] Windows XP Home - Shut Down
I have recently had my Mom's computer reformated and have installed Windows XP Home. When I go to start and shut down it does start the shuty down process but does not completely go off. A mesaage comes up on the screen that says "It is OK to turn off your computer" and then I have to hold in the button on the machine to shut it off completely. Is there something I need to do so that it completely shuts down. I do not have this issue on my machine running Windows XP Home.
Thanks for your help.

Look in Control Panel>Power Options and see if there is a tab called APM. If there is check the box for ACPI (it should be the only checkbox there) and after that the PC should shut down normally.

Thanks for your help. The control panel power options is the one that worked. No need to go into registry.
Thanks again
