Confused: I get spyware alert after negative scans

Using XP, BitDefender, Spybot S&D and AVG anti-spyware.

I run BitDefender and it tells me no viruses.
I then run Spybot and it tells me no spyware.
I then run AVG and while it is telling me no spyware, I get spyware alerts from
BitDender, that it has blocked multiple infections of Adware. I look in BitDefender Quarantine, to delete, and nothing is there.

Each time I do the above, I get the same results, i.e., no viruses, no spyware, no spyware, but multiple spyware alerts.

Do I have spyware? If so, why doesn't Spybot or AVG confirm it? If BitDefender has blocked it, why is it not in Quarantine?

aob--Do you have any files quarantined in SpyBot or AVG? Those could be detected as "spyware" by BitDefender.

    welshjim:

It looks like spybot S&D had files in quarantine, which were then recognized by BitDefender when AVG was being run.

Thanks for your help. Hopefully, I do not have to bother you guys again about adware. I now have to get into the habit of running everything new through VIRUSTOTAL to avoid this very time-consuming problem.

    Thanks, again.

aob--Thanks for posting back. Hope that is the answer and you will not have these "false" positives anymore. I always delete quarantined files as soon as they are quarantined, after making note what they were.
