    ip camera NAT

I have a Cisco 871w router. I just got a Linksys WVC54GC ip camera. the camera works except in the router i can't seem to get the nat to work so i can view the camera over the internet.

Assign the camera a static IP address. You must also forward the required port to the camera's IP address. If you are viewing with a browser, the forwarded port is 80.

if i put in the address bar my ip address in this case 208.x.x.x:80 it gives me my router not my camera. now i've read that port 1024 is the camera and if i use that it just gives me an error. my router assigns 10.10.10.x addresses.

If the camera has an IP of say 10.10.10.10 and it uses a web interface you must make a choice of where traffic to port 80 will go. Most people disable access to their router on port 80 from the public network. You will then configure the router to forward port 80 to 10.10.10.10. If the webcam port can be configured just select another port to use and forward it.

From the private network you can access your router by IP address say 10.10.10.1 and the webcam by ip address 10.10.10.10.

If you're configuring the router though telnet/SSH, post the config here (mask out passwords etc) and I'll try and fit the NAT config into it.

If you're configuring it through some sort of graphical interface, can you post a screenshot or two of the NAT configuration page?
