One-click-Optimizer deletes files HP scanner requires

Using XP, Ashampoo One-Click-Optimizer and HP 4850 scanner.

If I use the scanner, it works. If I run One-Click-Optimizer and then try to scan, I get a message that I have to insert the scanner software CD. Once I insert the HP CD and files are re-loaded, the scanner will then work.

Apparently, One-Click is deleting files that HP needs. Since I try to run One-Click at least once a week, almost every time I try to scan, I have to reload in the HP CD.

Is there a way to get these two programs to be nice to each other? I do not want One-Click to delete files that HP needs.

I used to use HDValet to clean my HDD and after each time I would have to repair Office. I know this is no help to you but I wanted to sympathise.

A case where those cleaners need to be well understood before using.

I don't like those programs, they are more trouble than they are worth. They may have had their uses on Win9x, but on the much more stable NT-based versions of Windows I don't see any need for them at all. I haven't used one of those clean up apps in years, and my PCs all run just fine.

    Guys:

I have already decided to get rid of the damn thing. (Can I say the D word on this website?) The company does not offer decent tech support and the software is causing problems. Hence, it is time to get rid of it.
