    Cellular Text Message Archiving

I can't get the information out of Sprint (and can't find it on the web site), but I'm curious to know if Sprint archives text messages sent through their system. If so, is it possible to retrieve the text messages as the primary account holder?

    Thanks in advance,

    Cj

I don't know for certain, but I would guess no.

For example, a hardware router that routes computer traffic does not archive information it passes and routes. Besides, this would slow down it's routing ability too much.

It merely procesees the packet using level three of the OSI network model.
It doesn't need to know the data in the packet above layer 3.

The next router in line processes the packet using level three of the OSI network model also.

    SuperSparks,
    Yeah maybe but...
I don't see the word "Sprint" anywhere in the article you posted.

I guess you can call Sprint and ask them.

But then again it doesn't mention any specific company, just
    two unnamed wireless providers
I think SS was just showing that it has been done in the past.

But yes the best way is probably to ring them and find out.

If two providers are doing it, then I'd have thought there is a good chance that most, if not all, the others will be too. After all, archiving costs money, so they must be doing it for a reason, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if a law enforcement agency or two had requested that they do it.

Of course, whether you can get the mesages yourself is a different matter.
    Nick.
