[RESOLVED] [XP] Power-up problem: power supply or mobo?
Lately my computer has had an intermittent start problem. When the power button is pushed nothing will happen. Sometimes repeated pushing of the button will start the system, and sometimes it will start up by itself after a few seconds delay. Once it is on it stays on. What is more likely, a power supply problem or a motherboard problem?

I'd guess power button on the case...
Try pushing it in and holding it in for an extra second or two.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

That sounds a lot like the symptoms that I had a few months ago when my power supply started to fail. It got worse and worse until the computer wouldn't boot at all in the end.

I decided to order a new power supply and it will arrive Friday. I was supicious of my old one anyway (a no-name brand that is three years old) because in addition to turn-on problems my PC also suddenly turned off by itself.
