Can you view picture attachments in Outlook in the email itself
without having to double click the attachment? Not in an html sent email but in a normal email with say a .jpg attached?

gnxfan1--It depends how concerned you are about spyware. Unless you are absolutely sure that the attachment is safe (free of spyware), I suggest you right click on it and Save. Then scan the saved attachment with your antivirus app before opening.
However, to answer your question directly, I understand that you must have OE set on the Tools|Options|Read tab to "Read only plain text". Otherwise .jpg attachments should open automatically at the bottom of the email message, which is what you seem to be looking for. This is true for .jpg, .gif and .bmp files but not attachments in many other file types.

THX for the reply. this is for Outlook, not OE though.
Wouldn't a running antiviral that is scanning actively also scan any attachment that is opened in real time?

gnxfan1--Sorry. I missed that. Is there no "Read all messages in plain text" setting in Outlook?
