Here's my HijackThis.
Posted before in the laptops forum.
Acer Travelmate 4650.
Windows XP, fully updated.
Pentium M 1,73GHz
Antivirus NOD 32
Scans done with, Ad-Aware, Spybot, AVG, Rogueremover, Housecall, Panda....... all of them! Latest scans find nothing.
What's the problem? Stuttery sound and video, windows jingle on startup, for example, is awful. CPU stays on 100% for a long time on startup.
So, here's my HijackThis Log.
Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Did you follow through with that?
Please download VundoFix.exe
to your desktop.- Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
- Click the Scan for Vundo button.
- Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
- You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
- Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
- When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
- Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above
instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when
VundoFix appears at reboot.

Never saw WinAntivirus in Add/Remove, but I was able to eliminate it with Rogueremover.
Now having problems with Vundofix. Starts scanning and then sticks on a file which I think is DivX.dii, if it's relevant. While I sit looking at the screen wondering if it's going to continue, it switches off. No warning, just OFF. This has happened twice now.

If still no luck, download VirtumundoBeGone by secured2k
- Save the file to your desktop
- Close all running programs (including your Internet Browser)
- Double-click VirtumundoBeGone.exe on the desktop
- Read the introductory information, and then click Continue
- Click Start
- When asked if you want to continue, click Yes to run the fix
- Click "Save Log"

Ran Vundofix in safe mode. No infected files found.
Should I click remove even if it finds nothing?

If no files were found just close it. I am seeing nothing bad in the hijackthis log. We can run another scanner to perhaps see more?
Go here and download then run Silent Runners.vbs. Right click on the download link and select Save Target As. Save it to the desktop or to a folder in a permanent directory. It generates a log which will be created in the same folder you are running it from. Please post the information back in this thread.
If you have a script blocking program, please allow the file to run. It is not malicious.

Nothing there that I can see.
Have you attempted to reinstall/update your sound drivers?

No, I haven't. How do I go about doing that then?

Do you have a sound card, or onboard sound? You will be able to find out in Device Manager. Once located, you should uninstall the drivers and then install again.
Make sure you have the drivers CD on hand though . You can also try downloading the relevant drivers from the net or MS.

Getting a bit complicated for my little brain. I've got 3 recovery CDs that came with the computer and I'm going to take it back to the shop where I bought it see what my man there says. If I have to reinstall drivers or maybe....... everything, then I'll leave to someone who knows what he's doing, ( I hope!)
Hats off to everyone for their round the clock devotion to duty. When I've got everything sorted I'll post again to let you know what happened and I'll make sure I've got all the AV stuff which you've introduced me to in the last couple of weeks. It's been an eye opener!
