    [XP] cmos battery number

As I am getting very close to completing this older computer for my daughter, I thought that I would go ahead and put in a new cmos battery. I don't know if the battery had ever been changed and I don't think that I had ever seen any indication of the battery going bad, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to start with a fresh battery. So...I picked up a couple of 3 volt batteries as I left work....they are DL2016....DL2025 (Duracell Lithium).

But...the cmos battery is CR2032. I went ahead and put in the #2025...and other than the 2025 being just slightly thinner...it seems to be working okay ( I'm using the computer now). So what is the difference...do I need to yank the #2025 out and get another CR2032? I certainly don't want to hurt anything here...I've put in a lot of time and upgraded a few parts to get this system running nice & fast & cool & quiet...

Okay...I looked at that data and there is very little difference between them. One chart has the 'Maximum Recommended Diode Leakage Current':

    DL2025.....30
    DL2032.....50

On another chart, the Volume listed is this:

    DL2025.....0.79cm3
    DL2032.....0.63cm3

I found the Volume numbers to be interesting as it shows the 2025 to have a larger volume than the 2032....hmmm...

But...then I saw yet another comparison chart that showed the 2032 to actually have a larger Volume...interesting..

Well...performance wise, I don't see any significant difference...but then I'm not an expert at electronics.

So....since the 2025 does not fit as tightly as the 2032, I think that I will just go get a 2032 and not have any doubts about the fit or proper battery size/performance.

Thanks, jdc2000, for those links....interesting reading & good info.
