Dell's Idea Storm -- Check it out
Yesterday, (February 16) Michael Dell, Dell's CEO, initiated a new website called IdeaStorm at
http://www.dellideastorm.com/.
Go take a look. I even posted a suggestion today.
He is looking for input from customers, critics, bloggers, Dell's employees, everyone on what needs to be done to make Dell better. Different people have already posted ideas.
Please read through the posts and do not make duplicate posts.
All ideas start at the 10 level and if you click the approve button, then that specific post moves up in the rankings. There is a link for the most popular suggestions and the most recent. There is also a link for what actions Dell is taking on which suggestions.
Warning: Writing a comment for a suggestion is NOT a vote for that suggestion.
It looks like we the people are finally going to be listened to at Dell.
Post back what you think and whether you posted any suggestions on the site.
Cheers,
Linda

Interesting link, I think its a good idea. I have been shopping for a laptop for a few months now. I have been to Dells website its seems like a hundred times looking at their systems. It seems that when I get done adding components to get a system up to my liking it costs a small fortune. two weeks ago at Best Buy I ran upon a HP with a AMD x2 cpu, 120 gig hd, Dual layer DVDRW, 2gigs of ddr2 memory and a Nvidia 128meg gfx, webcam, wide screen display. It had all these cool looking blue lights all over it for quick access to the dvd player and its functions and volume control I played around a bit with it at the store and bought it. So far I like it. Its not nearly as fast as my desktops but I can sit here in my easy chair in the living room and watch movies (my girl freind and son have exclusive rights to the tv), surf, or work on my news letter and send it to the printer upstairs in the man room. It even sounds good with my Sony ear muffs pluged in. This is my 1st laptop and im loving it! All for under a grand. I got to touch it before I bought it.

Its a nice idea...Couldn't help but notice one idiot that is posting way to much. He seams to have taken it upon himself to comment on everybody and everything...
Anyway, I posted a comment about Bloatware.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

I noticed, it took longer than a hour to get rid of the bloatware on this.

Click on most recent comments, then start reading. It is important to try to read all of the posts and to promote those suggestions that have the most value.
There are multiple post about bringing customer support back to the US, I recommend promoting only one. There is a lot of duplication but there are also some good ideas.
Posting a comment IS NOT the same as cast a vote by promoting that suggestion.
I have posted one suggestion with the topic "What Dell Needs to Do to Be # 1 Again .." and would appreciate your support, assuming that you agree with my suggestions.
Right now it is on page 10 of the most recent posts.
I tried doing a Google search on topic, on my name, which was restricted to just that site but obviously the site is too new and Google does not have it indexed yet.
As people post more, then my post will be buried deeper, when you click on "Most Recent Posts".
Dell as stated that they are going to evaluate the suggestions based on the highest votes by the visitors to the website. Votes are generated when a suggestion is promoted.
If too many people post the same suggestion over and over then the "promote" vote gets diluted.
Cheers,
Linda
