Installed earthlink accelerator, uninstalled it now I cannot browse.
I installed earthlink accelerator, it worked but I decided to uninstall it. Now whenever I connect through dial up I cannot browse with internet explorer.
When I run hijackthis I can see that for some reason even though I uninstalled earthlink acclerator it's still forcing a proxy server http=localhost:8080. Before I uninstalled earthlink accelerator I disabled it and was able to browse, but when I uninstalled it, it will not browse. However if I use firefox it does work, has anyone had to manually remove whatever is causing it to keep forcing a proxy server?

Reinstall
Reinstal IE any version, if you havent installed IE7, If you upgrade you will need to reinstall earthlink.
No I have never manually made changes, whenever there has been a problem I have allways reinstalled and it has allways worked.

If not tried already,
Re-install Earthlink Accelerator,
Reboot,
Remove Earthlink Accelerator via Add/Remove Programs,
Reboot and test net access.
Cheers.

If you go to Internet Options in IE then Connections and highlight your connection, go to settings and uncheck the proxy server box.
Should also be able to fix it using hijackthis.
