    Resolved [RESOLVED] [XP] KVM switch

The kvm switch got here this morning..didn't have much time to play with it until tonite. This is the one that I have
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817107407

It works great...long cables...switches cleanly between the computers. But I forgot one small detail.. ...I only have the cable for my broadband hooked up to my main computer..

Can I get a cable splitter so I can have internet access from both? I'm thinking that I can but I haven't searched it out yet....wanted to let y'all know about my new toy...

And what exactly does the auto scan mode do...it says that it allows you to monitor the activity of the connected computer without taking the trouble of switching it yourself. I don't know what that is actually talking about...how...why...would you use that??

You lost me. KVM: Keyboard Video Mouse

If you are asking how to get two different computer systems to share one ISP service,
Quickest method would be to use a Cable/ADSL router.
    Cheers.

Shinma...sorry if I wasn't clear. It's probably a very simple thing but all I need to do is what you said...I need to have both computers to share the cable broadband connection. So it's called a cable router? I wasn't even sure what it would be called...thanks...I'll see what I can find. The local Radio Shack/computer store might have it...I'll check with them tomorrow...thanks again.

What you are looking for is a Cable/ADSL router with a built-in switch.
For an inexpensive wired model that has good overall performance,
    Upload, download throughput, simultaneous connections,
You can look at the following link,

If you are looking/requiring a wireless router,
Following has received good reviews and from when I fiddled around with it for a while, appears to perform well,

If you need additional ideas on wired router performance,

    For wireless/wired router performance chart,

Early testing of Pre-N wireless routers has been disappointing to say the least
Due to compatibility issues with 802.11b/g adapters and wishy washy performance.

Hope the flood of info. assists.
    Cheers.
